More on Matt Hardy arrest: We obtained a copy of the Matt Hardy arrest report for his latest DUI on 9/12 at Raleigh-Durham Airport.
Hardy was driving his 2011 Chevrolet Camaro at around 1pm near the terminal building en route to pick up girlfriend Rebecca Reyes (Reby Sky) when a report came in stating that Hardy’s vehicle was “all over the road” and that he almost hit two drivers three separate time. Airport police conducted a traffic stop and noted that Hardy swerved onto the curb then swerved back on the road before coming to a stop. His speech was described as “very slow and slurred” during initial contact. An officer asked Hardy to exit his vehicle but as he opened the door his vehicle rolled forward and the officer yelled at him to put the vehicle into park. Hardy then failed field sobriety tests including a walk-and-turn test, and twice failed the one-leg stand test. He submitted three preliminary breath tests and each result was 0.00. A state trooper later arrived on scene who was trained in drug recognition and suspected Hardy to be under the influence. Hardy was then taken to Wake County Public Safety Center and processed for DUI. He submitted a blood specimen and was released on a written promise. He is scheduled to appear in court in Raleigh on November 30.
Rock and Cena to team at Survivor Series: New promotional material sent out for Survivor Series is pushing The Rock and John Cena teaming together “never before, never again” at Madison Square Garden. So it appears Rock will be wrestling on 11/20. Story is developing.
New faces in developmental: Claudio Castagnoli was signed to a WWE contract and has started in developmental. He worked a singles match under the name Antonio Cesaro against Richie Steamboat Thursday night at the FCW TV taping in Tampa. Swiss-born Castagnoli, 30, has more than a decade of experience under his belt wrestling all over the world for various groups including Chikara, NOAH, and Ring of Honor where he was one half of the Kings of Wrestling tag team with Chris Hero. We didn’t get official confirmation but Hero has likely signed too as the belief was that both men were coming in as a package… Boxer Monte Barrett is headed to Tampa for a tryout at the end of October. Barrett (35-9-2) is good friends with John Cena which helps but at 40 he’s very late in the game. He got the call recently from WWE talent director Ty Bailey and told him he’s going to commit to wrestling 110 percent.
Writer quits, creative changes: WWE television writer Jenifer Bloodsworth is either leaving or has already quit the company. She was head writer for NXT and before that was #2 to Ed Koskey during the final months of ECW. She started writing for the WWE website in 2006 and moved up the ladder to become a favorite of Stephanie McMahon and also at one point was Kevin Dunn’s assistant… Her departure follows some recent restructuring in creative. They now have two teams, described as The Home Team and The Road Team, basically one group of writers traveling 150 days a year to every taping, and another group mainly working out of Stamford. The Home Team (led by Stephanie McMahon and Brian Gewirtz) is supposed to work on long term programs as well as provide web and magazine content while The Road Team (led by Michael Hayes and Ed Koskey) will work more closely with talent on production and pre tapes.
Triple H stirs up MMA fans: Triple H caused a stir among MMA fans for an interview he did at www.moviefone.com for saying UFC fights are often long and boring but WWE always gives it’s fans a good show. He said: “I think if anybody needs to evolve, it’s them. Give more of an entertainment standpoint. Give more form; they just have fighters who walk in in T-shirts and shorts and just stand there and then they fight and then they win and then they go, ‘thanks, I’d like to thank my sponsors’ and then they leave.” He also brought up how Brock Lesnar sells pay-per-view with his personality and feels MMA lacks in that area with the majority of fighters. I guess you can make that argument to some degree but saying UFC needs to evolve more than WWE shows how badly out of touch he is from reality. Shortly after the interview came out, CM Punk tweeted, “UFC needs to evolve more than WWE. RIDICULOUS!!! Laugh out loud ignorance.”
