Regarding chasing a franchise player out of time, you guys are dead on. The one that comes to mind and hits home the hardest for me was Eric Lindros in Philadelphia. While I was one of MANY people who were upset the way he was chased away, MOST Flyers fans were willing to accept the move because the Flyers demonstrated they could continue to win at their current level of success without him.
Eric Lindros made the Flyers better, but not so much better that the fans were willing to overlook the sideshow distraction. I hated it … but it did seem like time for him to move on.
