Thank God; the senior citizen bus strike is over, why Ric Flair actually found his way to the Impact Zone. Wow and did he ever provide a great show, setting up Fortune by giving them a false sense of hope that he was in their corner. But Ric changed like he does his wives and sided with his bitter enemies Bischoff and Hogan in Immortal. If I am a member of Fortune, I would be full of joy that we don’t have to be seen with Grandpa anymore.  Yes Ric; was bringing down the ship of Fortune, Ric people don’t call you God; they call you as old as God.  As for Ric making A.J., A.J. was already made, already an icon until he meets you. Same with Beer Money, and Kaz, icons and legends of current time, current day and they can still wrestle.  How sad is it, that Flair stuck with Immortal, The Hardy’s who walk worse than he does, and have more injuries than he has, why they can share the same walker. But wait Immortal still has Gunner, Murphy, Rob Terry and my question here is who; are these people? Back up dancer for the Mickey Mouse Club.  But wait Immortal has Bischoff who is 200 pounds over weight and is so grey haired he makes Flair look young. Than there is Hogan, HOGAN, and where has he been? Well Ladies and Gentlemen the Impact Zone is so big, that Hulk went to the bathroom and can’t find his way back, and the MMC dancers are so stupid they don’t know where they left Hulk. Hulk is stuck somewhere between the Princess house and the set of Judge Judy. Fortune stop picking the bones and burry them already.

Remember the old fantasy warfare PWI used to do with WCW vs. WWE? They put such greats as Bret Hart vs. Hogan, Flair vs. Michaels, Austin vs. Goldberg, but what kind of matches would WWE have with TNA?  Sure we can dream about Orton vs. Angle, A.J. vs. Edge, Roode vs. McIntyre and Jarrett vs. Dolph Ziggler. But the match that would bring burn down the house, send every dog in the neighbourhood would be Vickie Guerrero vs. Karen Angle.

I wish PWI magazine would publish a yearly directory of wrestler’s websites and actual social network sites. They could do a top ten of WWE and/or TNA wrestler’s sites, discuss the independent promotion sites, the top five recommended schools and which are the most reliable talk shows. I didn’t know Brady Hicks ran a podcast, before adding a mutual friend, and I didn’t know PWI was on Facebook. So many fans search for their favourite wrestlers, but there are so many “fake” out there you don’t know what or who to trust? Is the Information real or just some snot nosed twelve year old out having a great time? Its time we crack down.

Why did WWE release Matt Striker, I was reading on Facebook that he got “suspended” indefinitely. For what did he do? Talk to too many fans, signed too many autographs, OMG Striker actually gave a damn about the WWE universe.  First WWE makes up this story that Matt Striker broke is neck and can never wrestle again, the truth is WWE creative couldn’t find the right storyline for him, and pushed him in the WWE announce table.  Matt Striker was a great commentator, he was funny, smart and when he was wearing a white dress shirt could melt the socks off any hot blooded female fan.  But WWE brought back Booker T, and WWE had to place him some where so he wound up with Josh Matthews and that annoying bug, Michael Cole.  I don’t know why Cole couldn’t stay with Raw and Striker stay on Smackdown?  Or couldn’t they have added Striker to the Raw announce team?  WWE should be more creative with their storylines and less creative with their releases, but wrestling has a new theory, WWE’s loss is TNA’s gain.

[Ed. note- Matt Striker has not been released.]

Wrestling history has become somewhat of a reputation of the past. Who doesn’t see similarities between John Cena and Hulk Hogan, Orton could be compared to that of Macho Man, Orton a beloved hero/heel but never reaching the “Hogan” status. John Morrison as HBK and R-Truth to Ron Simmons and why should I leave out today’s hottest star the Miz. The Miz reminds me of Buff Bagwell, but instead of the promoter holding him back like Marcus, the Miz has actually rose to get his shot, won the title and was able to hold it.  But the Miz should count his blessings because of the time he came in at. Poor Bagwell got his start in the 90’s, Hogan, Savage, Nash, Hall and Sting were very popular at this time, forcing a young talent like Bagwell to the tag team divisions. Than Bagwell got hurt and after his injury WCW couldn’t decide what to do with Buff and his Stuff. The company folded, WWE already had Triple H, HBK and Angle at the time so he was thrown out and now he’s in the Indy circuit. Why Alex Riley could gain two hundred pounds and become Scott Norton, as for Michael Cole he is already the Judy Bagwell of our time. The Miz should be thankful that the WWE is focusing on younger wrestlers than the big names of yesterday.

If you watch wrestling at all, you would notice the growing trend of Legends that are still around in this business. Hogan, Flair, you tune into TNA and you think you are back in 1995 or 96. Than tune into Raw and see Lawler win a title shot against the Miz for Feburary’s PPV, what are we going to do when this business can’t rely on The Hogans, Flairs or Lawler’s?  It was alright that TNA brought in the ECW group, I never saw ECW, just what I read in PWI and watched the WWE water down version, and those guys can still bring in the fans.  Guys like Kennedy, Angle and Hardy’s are great too, but its time for Flair, Hogan and Lawler to exit stage left.  The only way these young guys are going to “break in” or “develop” is to just go out there, but not be thrown away for a Hogan promo. When TNA was at rock bottom, didn’t know if they would make the next weekly PPV, where was Hogan? Where was Flair? They were at WWE doing appearances, accepting Hall of Fame honours, wrestle Wrestle Mania’s and TNA was a retirement thought. Now that WWE doesn’t want these two and Dixie Carter has her wallet out, they are totally TNA.

As for Lawler he has been with the WWE company for 18 years, he was involved with Bret Hart when he first arrived and you would think with such a low bracket at the time, HBK hadn’t developed, the Taker was still a rookie, Austin and Rock were at mid card level, why didn’t WWE  give Lawler his chance than?  Now he just looks like a mascot, coming and fighting for the PPV,  they could have gotten Jack Swagger’s Soaring Eagle to fight Edge at the Pay Per View.  I think Legends should take a step back and reevalute their careers, if all you can do is talk and barely walk you should let the young guys run wild. Matthews and Striker give it another ten years and you too could be getting a run at a career again too.

I sat at my computer and wrote down the Jan 30 2011 results for the Royal Rumble, after looking at my short list, I was sadden. For weeks they advertised it as “improved, there was 40 wrestlers and not 30″. But was the Rumble really worth are the all mighty dollar?  Along with cable/satellite bills Pay Per Views have risen in cost, I can remember my friends ordering them for $20 dollars and now the price ranges from $40 to $ 70 CND. Pay Per Views aren’t worth there weight in gold anymore, we used to have characters with voices, like Austin, Taker, Triple H and HBK to mention a few, the “new” WWE stars can barely cut a promo, does Randy Orton have a tag line? Neither does Drew McIntyre or Dolph Ziggler. The Miz has “I am the Miz, and I am awesome”, wow that took a lot of brainstorming there, that is how every Alcohol Annoymous meeting starts. Oddly enough Alberto Del Rio as the same line, but he says he is better than you or me.  Next is the actual result of matches, either there is interference or the matches are just forgotten about TNA is mostly guiltly of this. TNA promises the match using some of their bigger names, and what happens nothing. If you are vowing to give us a Bubba vs. D-Von match deliver that match, or if you know the star has fallen on hard times don’t even make the match until you know that wrestler is already to go.  The next thing is how storyline is continued, usually a feud in the WWE lasts a year, and with TNA who in the hell knows, when its going to end.  Lastly not each division is represented, at the Royal Rumble the tag, Intercontinental and US titles weren’t defended, and why because these competitors had to be in the Royal Rumble. My goodness Vinnie Mac, if your boys can’t fight two matches in one night why even have them on staff.
