3. Former UFC, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar Arraigned in Canada
“The Next Big Thing” is facing charges in Medicine Hat, Alberta, after a late 2010 arrest in which Lesnar and Chad Stryker were charged with three counts of violating Fish and Wildlife laws, including improper affixation of tags, spoilage of skin and edible flesh, and possession of a controlled animal. Charges were continued until January 19, 2012.

2.TNA Stars on the Move
First off, Jesse Neal was released for refusing to relocate to TNA’s new developmental promotion, Ohio Valley Wrestling. In addition, Gunner, D’Angelo Dinero, and AJ Styles are in Mexico, where they participated in AAA’s Guerra de Titanes, a major show in Puebla. Results not available as of press. Meanwhile, Scott Steiner, Abyss, and Magnus – along with former WWE star Chavo Guerrero – were added to the TNA India tour project where they will tape TV over the next week.
NewsWire Flash-Commentary: I hope all involved brought plenty of bottled water and packaged food. We don’t need a repeat of the William Regal incident from a few years ago. This includes Neal, who can use his food stamps to buy most of that packaged food.

1. Bret Hart Speaks His Mind on WWE
Hart was on The Rise and Grind Morning Show yesterday on Hot 106 out of Providence, Rhode Island, and oferred the following: WWE’s Current Talent: “I think the wrestlers that out there today are excellent. Some are as good as they’ve every been. I don’t have any issues with the wrestlers of today. But, I will say that they all look cookie-cutter and look the same. I really wish they would just get a King Kong Bundy here and there to change it up.” Where the Problem Lies: “I think the problem isn’t the wrestlers, it’s the office. It’s the directors of the wrestlers. They’re not doing a good enough job – I don’t think they understand the talent they have. Sometimes I can pull my hair out watching the TV going, ‘Geez, they have so much great talent, but the shows are the same every week. I’m so sick of all the characters they got.’” The Next Big Star: “Some of them (wrestlers) are great, but the wrestling industry, which is basically WWE, is waiting for the next guy to pull the sword out of the stone…They’re waiting for the next big Superstar. I don’t know who he is, but he’s out there. He might be some guy at a wrestling school right now hoping he’s going to make it. Somebody’s got to come along. Somebody always does. It could be another five years. Wrestling needs a new star; somebody with a new gimmick.”
NewsWire Flash-Commentary: I agree, especially as relates to how somebody has to step up. I personally don’t believe there is any “up-and-comer” on the roster other than Zach Ryder or Dolph Ziggler who could be that breakout star … and neither one will be used effectively enough to do so.

My TNA Experience: A Year On

I’m writing this because about one year ago the brightest spark wrestling had to offer died out but I managed to catch a glimpse just before it faded.

In the summer of 2009 I found out TNA was doing it’s second UK tour at the start of 2010. I missed the first one at the beginning of the year and being a massive TNA fan I couldn’t wait. Like a lot of wrestling fans I had been getting a bit jaded and tired of the same old WWE product but TNA reignited my passion somewhat. I would tell anyone who would listen TNA was coming and it was or at least seemed to be. I saw more adverts for them not just on UK TV but also on the web, they had a videogame coming out and the word seemed to be spreading and momentum building. It was settled. I was going and nothing was going to stop me so I instantly booked tickets for two of the shows. One in Bournmouth just over an hour away South West by train on the coast and another in London just over an hour North East in the capital at Wembely Arena, a famous music venue where anyone who’s is anyone in popular music has played and holds around 12,000 people. It was also going to be the site of the first Ultimate X match outside of the US and the first in a while in TNA altogether. Words can’t describe how much I was looking forward to the shows. Unfortunatley for me, TNA fans and wrestling in general some terrible news came in the mean time that changed TNA forever. continue reading…

Prior to Sunday’s Royal Rumble match, three years had lapsed since Booker T’s most recent appearance in a WWE ring. For Kevin Nash, the Rumble marked his first WWE performance in over seven years. With both men reportedly slated to participate in TNA’s resurrected “Main Event Mafia” angle, one might not have expected the two to show up in the Rumble match – at least until last weekend, when the rumor mill began to churn, and both men were spotted entering Boston, Massachusetts. Ooh, how scandalous!!!!

Booker and Nash aren’t quite relics, sure, but let’s remember that WWE is in the midst of an unprecedented youth movement. What could possibly have been the motivation for bringing Booker and Nash back into the fray, at their “advanced ages?” Well, both men are, arguably, contenders for the Hall of Fame, and what better place than Atlanta to induct two of WCW’s biggest stars ever? Nash stated in an interview earlier this week that he expects to sign a “Legends” deal with WWE, which hints at possible Hall of Fame glory around the corner. It doesn’t hurt, either, that his BFF is the frontrunner for this year’s class. As far as Booker’s concerned, he’s already (spoiler alert!) returned to full-time WWE TV as a member of the Smackdown announce team. So neither he nor Nash is going anywhere any time soon.

TNA wrestling unfortunately are two things. Predictable and depressing. I imagine anyone reading this feels the same way as me. I knew when it is was announced/leaked that Karen Angle had left Kurt Angle for Jeff Jarrett it would end up on TV. My only suprise is how long it’s taken them. But as predicted the whole thing is going to be an angle(no pun) that we are expected to care about. I really don’t. They have even gone so far as to advertise it and hype it up. How about having good matches with great wrestlers and advertising that.

This week on In the Room, TNA star Kurt Angle steps IN THE ROOM with Brady Hicks for a special Bound for Glory edition of the show. Find out what Kurt thinks about the prospect of wrestling Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson at TNA’s biggest show of the year. Special thanks go out to TNA and Kurt Angle for taking the time to sit down with the gang.

On His Upcoming TNA Bound for Glory match:
Just like any other Bound for Glory. I know I have to step it up and put on the best performance I can. I’m excited it is Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson because I think they are two of the big upcoming names in TNA. I believe you’re going to see a lot of great things in this match. The match will be match of the year. We’re going to steal the show and give the TNA fans a really great main event.

Comparing Bound for Glory to WrestleMania:
In TNA they give every wrestler on the card the ability to steal the show. We’re ALL put in a position where you’re trying to have the best match. And that’s why a lot of the matches are so good.

On Kurt’s Reaction to Several of the Stars Who Have Come In:
I have mixed feelings. I don’t exactly want somebody to come in from WWE and win the title from our best wrestler, which is AJ Styles. Rob Van Dam is a featured kind of wrestler, Jeff Hardy is as well. Mr. Anderson never really got his real chance, and I’m thankful for that. Right now, we actually has a better roster than WWE. The TNA wrestlers here have carried the company to this point and they deserve a lot of credit. We need to utilize those guys, and let the former WWE guys somewhat enhance them.

Comparing TNA to WWE:
A lot of times, WWE doesn’t get all that they could out of their wrestlers. I don’t think an AJ Styles could have done all that he did if he were in WWE. There is no wrestler better in the world than AJ Styles. He’s the best in the world. It just shows that we’re able to utilize wrestlers differently than WWE. We’re not just that prototype 6’2″, 240 pound man.

Kurt’s “Dream” Final Opponent:
I had a good little run with Randy Orton, but he wasn’t as good as he is now. I think [Randy] is the best wrestler up there right now. He carries that company as a character and as a wrestler. I see another guy that’s going to step up that I want to wrestle is the Miz. He’s really stepped up in recent years. In TNA, I’d love to do more with the X Division guys, let them wrestle their style as I wrestle mine.

On Vince McMahon:
I loved Vince. We ended badly, but he and I had a great relationship for a long time. He was like a father to me. Vince and I just weren’t on the same page. I was burned out. I felt trapped and overworked and just wanted to get out. Vince did the right thing.

Plus, Kurt checks in with his thoughts on RVD “The Rock Star,” who specifically in TNA deserves more of a push, who from WWE he would LOVE to wrestle, Dixie vs. Vince, his excitement with Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin both being free agents, and his thoughts on WWE stars such as Randy Orton, The Miz, Bret Hart, and Christian.

Some Thoughts on Jim Kettner As ECWA Forges Forward

This is now the seventh time I’ve deleted my words and tried to start over. Still, it hasn’t gotten any easier. It’s been about three weeks since Jim Kettner–the longtime promoter of the East Coast Wrestling Association (and my friend)–quietly slipped out the back door of the Boys and Girls’ Club of Newark, Delaware, presumably never to return.
