East Coast Wrestling Association, Voorhees, New Jersey–As announced this week by Brady Hicks on the IN THE ROOM podcast on thebradyhicks.com and ECWA official Joe Zanolle on 1wrestlingradio.com, newly announced WWE Hall of Fame candidate Tammy “Sunny” Sytch will be the host of this year’s ECWA Super 8 tournament.
For Sytch, the journey to the Super 8 has been a long and winding one. A longtime valet in WWE ECW,WCW, and a number of independent promotions, Sytch went from a virtual unknown in the wrestling world (if not for the work of Pro Wrestling Illustrated) to one of WWE’s most popular performers and–in many people’s eyes–WWE’s ORIGINAL Diva. Now … she can add Hall of Famer to her list of accolades. continue reading…

INTERVIEW TO FOLLOW … NEXT WEEK ON IN THE ROOM!
East Coast Wrestling Association, Voorhees, New Jersey–Wooo! Whether you know him as “A Double,” “Austin Starr,” or as “the Greatest Man That Ever Lived,” many fans worldwide recognize Austin Aries as one of the best professional wrestlers and performers in the sport today.
Aries, who debuted in the mid-west in 2000, made his first big mark on the wrestling world on April 3, 2004 at the 8th Annual ECWA Super 8 Tournament in Wilmington , DE. Aries defeated Shawn Daivari in the quarter-finals and John Walters in the semi-finals before losing the finals to “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels, which was Daniels second Super 8 Tournament Championship as he also won it in 2000 defeating Scoot Andrews in the finals that year.

East Coast Wrestling Association, Voorhees, New Jersey–The ECWA Super 8 “puzzle” is two more pieces closer to completion with the announcement of longtime independent star “Beautiful” Bobby Shields and high-flying indie sensation Shiima Xion, Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Voorhees, New Jersey.
For “Beautiful” Bobby Shields, the journey back to the East Coast Wrestling Association has been a long and arduous one. A trainee of HC Loc, and Dunn & Marcos “The Ring Crew Express,” Shields wrestled for a number of years for Jim Kettner in the ECWA. As ECWA’s resident angry Frenchman, Robere’ Shields drew the ire of ECWA fans for many, many years before moving on to Ring of Honor, taking on stars such as Steve Corino, Kevin Steen, and many, many others. Having now competed in a NUMBER of wrestling promotions over the years, Shields made his return to the family in late 2010, taking Tri-State Wrestling Alliance champion Breaker Morant to the limit in two title matches.

East Coast Wrestling Association, Voorhees, New Jersey–This week on Brady Hicks’ IN THE ROOM podcast, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s 2010 Rookie of the Year, Adam Cole, was named as the newest member of the ECWA Super 8 tournament, April 30, 2011 in Voorhees, New Jersey.
The young Cole has been a featured performer on the wrestling scene in the US, the UK, and Germany since he made his wrestling debut just a few years ago. He has quickly gained experience in promotions such as CZW, Dragon-Gate USA, and Ring of Honor, among a dozen other companies. Could excelling at Super 8 be just the opportunity that Adam Cole needs to take his promising career to the next level?
“This is a great chance for me, and I’m very excited for it,” commented Cole, prior to recording the show. “I’ve had some great opportunities to compete against some of the top independent talent in the world, and not just here but overseas as well. But I’m really hoping that performing well at Super 8 this year will give me the opportunity to take that next step in my career.”
