East Coast Wrestling Association, Voorhees, New Jersey–As announced this week by Brady Hicks on the IN THE ROOM podcast on thebradyhicks.com and ECWA official Joe Zanolle on 1wrestlingradio.com, newly announced WWE Hall of Fame candidate Tammy “Sunny” Sytch will be the host of this year’s ECWA Super 8 tournament.

For Sytch, the journey to the Super 8 has been a long and winding one. A longtime valet in WWE ECW,WCW, and a number of independent promotions, Sytch went from a virtual unknown in the wrestling world (if not for the work of Pro Wrestling Illustrated) to one of WWE’s most popular performers and–in many people’s eyes–WWE’s ORIGINAL Diva. Now … she can add Hall of Famer to her list of accolades. continue reading…

Austin Aries is a close, personal friend of IN THE ROOM, and we are very excited he’ll be coming to Super 8 this year. Check out this recent A-Double video, in which he addresses his retirement and other rumors. And be sure to check out this week’s show for our sitdown interview with the only 2X ROH Champion, the only 2X IN THE ROOM guest, and NOW 2X ECWA Super 8 competitor: AUSTIN ARIES.

On Teaming With Punk in SES:
They wanted a big guy with [CM Punk]. He didn’t really need it, nor do I think he thought he did. I thought we made it really work though. I tried to change my look, change a little my style in the ring. I think a little character development may have helped us more, but on the other hand–and he’s one of my best friends so this isn’t me kissing butt–he is one of the best on the mic. I could understand why they wouldn’t give us more to say, but I always wish they would have.

East Coast Wrestling Association, Voorhees, New Jersey–The ECWA Super 8 “puzzle” is two more pieces closer to completion with the announcement of longtime independent star “Beautiful” Bobby Shields and high-flying indie sensation Shiima Xion, Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Voorhees, New Jersey.

For “Beautiful” Bobby Shields, the journey back to the East Coast Wrestling Association has been a long and arduous one. A trainee of HC Loc, and Dunn & Marcos “The Ring Crew Express,” Shields wrestled for a number of years for Jim Kettner in the ECWA. As ECWA’s resident angry Frenchman, Robere’ Shields drew the ire of ECWA fans for many, many years before moving on to Ring of Honor, taking on stars such as Steve Corino, Kevin Steen, and many, many others. Having now competed in a NUMBER of wrestling promotions over the years, Shields made his return to the family in late 2010, taking Tri-State Wrestling Alliance champion Breaker Morant to the limit in two title matches.

“This is a great chance for me, and I’m very excited for it,” commented Cole, prior to recording the show. “I’ve had some great opportunities to compete against some of the top independent talent in the world, and not just here but overseas as well.
